Are you looking for some FUN ideas for organizing your classroom? I'm happy to share some ideas that you might like!

1.    I bought these containers from Costco. They are called, "Creative Options Project Boxes". They sell in a pack of 5 for $19.99. I like to store extra supplies or task cards in them.

2. I bought this box that holds 16 small boxes. Each box holds 4x6 size photos or task cards. I bought this set at Hobby Lobby. It was $34.99, but on sale and with coupon it was cheaper. I've included a couple of pictures of how I use them to organize my task cards.

3.     I like to use these file folders that are closed on three sides and open at the top. This type of folder is another easy way to organize task cards with the answer sheets and recording sheets.

4.  I have seen this set of boxes (16 colored 4x6 boxes) on Instagram from Michaels. I am still looking for them in my area.

Hope you like these ideas! If you have ideas that you use to organize your classroom, I'd love to hear about them in the comments below!

Seven Fun and Easy Ways to Motivate Students to Practice the Multiplication Facts!

Are you struggling with ways to motivate  your students or your own children to  practice those math facts? Well, I have seven fun and easy ways to motivate students you can implement right now!

1. Call the math practice a GAME! Kids love games, so tell them they are going to play a game!

2. Use dice! There are such a variety of dice out there to choose! I like these foam dice!

3. Give each child a blank piece of paper and call it "Sticker Sheet". Then let them choose a sticker as they complete a problem or play the game! I like to buy stickers from the Dollar Spot at Target!

4. Let kids use a calculator to check their work! I like this one that I got at  Mardel Christian and Educational Supply Store. Kids love it because it "talks"!

5.  Let kids use markers to complete some of their work! There is something motivating to kids to let them use different sizes and colors of markers to do their work!

6. Use a fun set of multiplication flashcards and play games like Multiplication War! Here's a set
I like from Teacher's Tools Store.

7.  Let each child choose a prize after the practice or game! I like to find prizes in the Dollar Spot at Target! Here's a picture of my prize basket.

I hope you like these suggestions!

I'd love hear if you like these ideas and what other ideas you have for motivating students to learn those facts!

Just post your comments in the comments section below! I'd love to read them!

3 Quick and Easy Steps to Keep Student Work Organized and Save Your Sanity!

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to share 3 tips that I've used to organize student work and save my sanity! I hope they are helpful to you, too!

    Here they are:

    1. Look at your class list (hopefully it is already in alphabetical order). Anyway, let's say Amy Bell is number one. Tell Amy Bell that her class number all year is #1 and you want her to write that number on the top right corner of all work that she turns in. (I would still have her write her name on the paper.) Repeat for each student.

    2. Collect student work in number order. Or you can put any stack of papers in order super quickly by numbers. This way you can see who is missing work at a glance. This  will make it so much easier to enter grades in your grade book, too! *** One problem I've run into with this system...what to do when you get a new student. If it's early in the year then I put the student in alphabetically which may mean re-numbering some students. But, if it is later in the year, I just add the new student to the end of the list.

    3. Put absent student's work in Absent Folder. I have made some cute covers for Absent Folders in link here:

Hope you enjoy these tips! Believe me, I wish I had started this system the very FIRST year I taught!

    Thanks,

Is teaching Elapsed Time a topic you dread teaching? Well, I've got some examples of how to use the Mountains, Hills, and Rocks Strategy to help students with this tough concept. A teacher shared this strategy with me several years ago and I've been using it every since. I have been amazed at how it is simple and yet helps students "see" the problem and find the correct solution! I hope this is helpful to you! Here is the first example:
    Here is the second example:

Here's a resource you might want to check out with elapsed time word problems on task cards! Great problems to have students practice this strategy!

    Recycling is Fun to Teach!

Are you looking for a fun way to introduce recycling to your students with little prep? Well, I'd love to take just a minute and share with you a lesson that I've used with lots of success!

I start with a class KWL chart  (What you know or think you know), (What you would like to learn) and at the end of the unit (What you did learn).

Then I read a short book about recycling and discuss with class. I like to read, Where Does the Garbage Go? by Paul Showers.

Then I use the lesson I've posted for FREE in my TPT store! Here's the cover with link:

I hope your students love this lesson!
